  • Use one of our YPD posts on your social media OR post your own stories about young people who have volunteered in your organization or have been of service to your community.

  • Team up with a local youth summer program in your community and organize an interactive and live display of youth voice.

  • Use June 4th to pledge your commitment to hosting a youth listening session this summer. Start the planning, find your youth champion, and set a date for gathering youth from your community.

  • On June 4th, pledge your commitment to organizing a “Youth Voice” writing competition in your community.

History of Illinois Youth Philanthropy Day

June 4th is officially

Illinois Youth Philanthropy Day!

We are incredibly excited that in 2025, Illinois Governor Pritzker proclaimed June 4th to be Illinois Youth Philanthropy Day!

This proclamation celebrates the progress and dedication of communities across Illinois that have been empowering young people to lead. It also lays the foundation for what’s next — a statewide movement where every city, town, and neighborhood, no matter its size, recognizes the incredible ability and value of the young people they see every day. And in doing so, Illinois can set the example for what’s possible in states across the country.

Philanthropy is about helping others however you can. It is about giving and supporting and working together, and in order for us to make a better tomorrow, we must include the voices of tomorrow, today!
